Lawson to go legally against PCB

Sacked Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson is seeking legal advice over a pay dispute, sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Sunday. PCB director genaral Altaf said that Lawson returned the cheque given to him as he was unhappy with the $$$ paid.

Lawson was due three months' pay as compensation for the early termination of his contract and Altaf said this obligation had been met.Lawson's contract was terminated by the Pakistan board on Friday with nine months remaining of his two-year contract.

Sources in the board told that Lawson had told the PCB that he was in touch with the Australian high commission for legal advice and that he would not leave Pakistan until the matter was settled.

The PCB has appointed former test player Intikhab Alam as coach for next month's one-day series against West Indies in Abu Dhabi and also offered him a two-year contract that has to first be ratified by the governing body

Asif fails IPL drug test:faces 2 year ban

Pakistani Pacer Mohd. Asif  have been suspended  from all cricket after he failed a dope test in the Twenty20 Indian Premier League (IPL), the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Tuesday.


"The ban will remain until his appeal... is decided or the anti-doping committee of the IPL and ICC (International Cricket Council) reach a final verdict on his case," the PCB said.

The board said Asif was banned from participating in cricket including its organisation, administration and promotion by or under the auspices of the PCB, the ICC or its member countries.


Senior board official, Shafqat Naghmi said Pakistan had a strict zero tolerance policy towards doping and would assist the ICC, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the IPL in enforcing the anti-doping regulations in the Asif case

Shoaib Akhtar to miss Champions Trophy

Shoaib Akhtar's chances of being named in Pakistan's preliminary squad for the Champions Trophy have receded after his lawyer said he would not pay a hefty fine in time to be considered for selection.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) postponed the announcement of its preliminary squad until Tuesday and sent a notice to paceman Shoaib asking him to pay the seven million rupees ($247,600) fine imposed on him by an appeals tribunal in June.
A PCB spokesman said on Friday: "Shoaib's name would only be considered for selection if he clears the fine first."

However, the player's lawyer, Abid Hasan Minto, said on Sunday: "Shoaib will pay the fine as soon as the High Court decides the matter (in September).

"If they (the PCB) think the fine payment is a norm for inclusion in the squad, it is up to them. If they want to deny the national team his presence and keep someone like him away from the team... then it is their decision," he added.

Pakistan host the Champions Trophy in September.

Shoaib appealed for reducing the ban period on him. High Court reduced his 5 year ban to 18 months & finally, the ban had stay of High Court. But he had been fined for that.Now Shoaib is not ready to pay the Fine.Hence, We may not see him in Champion's Trophy.

Pakistan thump Bangladesh by ten wickets

Pakistan openers Salmann Butt & Nasir Jamshed produced an unbrocken century partenershipto set up a 10-wickets win over bangladesh in the final Asia cup stage-2 match on friday.
             Butt scored 56 and Jamshed reached 52 as both left-handers easily overtook the Bangladesh total of 115 runs in just 19.4 overs. Young Nasir Jamshed reached his 4th one-day international half-century. Earlier, Abdur Rauf took the first three wickets to spark a Bangladesh batting collapse at National stadium. Giving away just 24 runs, he just put a big hole in their batting line-up.
          Bangladesh lost three wickets in eight balls as they slamped from 47/1 to 49/4. Mohammad Ashraful pulled Rauf six over mid-wicket...but in very next balls..he was caught by the hands of Misbah at gully.

Summary:
Bangladesh 115 all out in 38.2 overs (Iqbal 24; Rauf 3/24)
Pakistan 116/0 in 19.4 overs (Butt 56; Jamshed 52)
Pakistan won the match by 10wickets.

'I think Pakistan is a safe place'

Former South African all-rounder Mike Procter said on Friday he saw no reason why Pakistan cannot host the Champions Trophy in September, describing security measures as "fantastic".

Procter, who is here as an International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee for the ongoing Asia Cup, made the comments after players from Australia, New Zealand and England raised concerns.

"I see no reason why Pakistan should not host the Champions Trophy. I found Pakistan a safe place and have been here twice this year," Procter, who is overseeing Asia Cup Group A matches, said.

"This is my personal opinion and I don't know that the Australians have to say... (but) I was here in March and I am here in June and I found security arrangements to be fantastic," said Procter.

"The foreign umpires who have been with me during the Asia Cup also felt very safe and I would love to come to Pakistan for the future events whenever I get appointments."

ICC board meetings start on June 29 in Dubai, where an independent security report on the situation in Pakistan will be discussed before a final decision on the Champions Trophy is taken.

India's winning march continues...

Fantastic bowling,Marvelous batting & good fielding...This is what is required to win the match...& we found that in the match between Bangladesh v/s India. India, not being overconfident from the win against Pakistan prevented the upset from hosts.

Gautam Gambhir did a quite brilliant batting, hitting a century & this too with a strike rate more than 100.Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss & decided to bat first. Indian bowlers with their fantastic bowling restricted Bangladesh to 222 runs. RP Singh took 3 wickets & Irfan Pathan gave him company by taking two wickets.

Chasing 223 for victory, Sehwag showed his class by hitting 59 from just 32 balls including 7 boundaries & 2 sixes.Gautam Gambhir then carried on with his brilliant batting & made 107 from 101 balls. he was given the man of the match award.

As expected, India & Pakistan will clash in final..and India is favorite to lift the Asia cup trophy.

Summary:

Bangladesh: 222/10 in 49.5 overs (Hassan : 89 runs,RP Singh 46/3)

India: 223/3 in 35.4 overs (Gambhir : 101 runs, Razzak 48/1)

India beat Pakistan by 140 runs

Delhi Daredevils opener Sehwag & Gambhir succeeded in IPL & now at Mirpur too. The match against Pakistan, however, was not as interesting as we see before.No bunks in office or classes, may be there are now so many matches of India & Pakistan that cricket lovers are now used to that.OK, coming to point..Sehwag & Gambhir did a fantastic job & had a partnership of 155 runs just in 21.3 overs
Sehwag made 89 runs with a strike rate more than 100.00. Gambhir too, managed to reach 62 runs in 62 ball. Yuvraj took time to adjust, but then he also completed his half-century with a monster six. In middle order, Y.Pathan & R.Sharma failed, but Raina & Dhoni added some valuable runs to reach to a big total of 330/8.
Chasing this big total, Pakistan batting was however,crashed by Praveen kumar. he took first four wickets of top order. Chawla too took four wicket to finish the match.Pakistan batting collapse at the score of 190.
This defeat of Pakistan stopped it's 14 th consecutive win.

India: 330/8 in 50.0 overs (Sehwag : 89 runs, U.Gul 61/3)
Pakistan: 190 in 35.4 overs (Malik : 53 runs , P.Kumar 53/4)
