It has always been tough to read Rohit Sharma from his expressions - even his finest cricketing highs have been accompanied by a bored look, followed by a few mumbled words where excitement is conspicuous by its absence.
On Wednesday afternoon, the batting prodigy was experiencing the first setback of of his young, meteoric career, having been dropped by the new selection committee, who voted in favour of S Badrinath.
Twenty-four hours later though, the gloom had lifted as he struck his 13th boundary of the day to get to three-figures. By his standards, the celebration were extremely animated, and understandably so. Sharma jumped up in air, fists clenched, and let off a cry of delight. Not only had he, along with Virat Kohli (105), managed to dig Board President XI out of some early trouble - they were 59 for three when Sharma walked in - he also sent out a quick forget-me-not message to the new selectors, who were in Hyderabad on their first assignment.
And of course, the duo managed to put Australia right on the backfoot on their first offical day on tour, Ricky Ponting's men staring at an imposing score of 371/6 at stumps
